Axis MY ZONE Movie Offer Now Needs Rs 25,000 Spend

Last verified: 28 October 2026. Checked against Axis Bank’s revised MY ZONE terms and conditions and its spend-based movie offer notice, both on axis.bank.in. The card’s fee and earn rate are from CardShala’s check of Axis’s MY ZONE product page on 7 September 2026.

CardShala carries no referral links on this page and none of these cards paid for a mention. This is an explainer, not financial advice.

The short version

From 1 November 2026, the buy-one-get-one movie offer on the Axis Bank MY ZONE Credit Card only works if you spent at least Rs 25,000 on the card in the previous three calendar months. That is about Rs 8,334 a month on average. Until now there was no spend condition at all. If you use MY ZONE mainly for the free cinema ticket and little else, you will lose the offer, and the card’s main reason to exist goes with it. New cardholders get a few months’ grace, explained below.

What changes on 1 November

WhatUntil 31 OctoberFrom 1 November
Spend needed for the movie offerNoneRs 25,000 in the previous 3 calendar months
What counts as spendNot applicableBilled purchases settled in those 3 months. Interest, fees, charges, reversals and refunds do not count.
EMI purchasesNot applicableOnly the instalment billed each month counts, not the full price
New cardsNot applicableNo spend needed in the month the card is issued and the next 3 calendar months
Add-on and upgraded cardsNot applicableSpend is counted for the whole account. An upgrade from another Axis card is not treated as a new card.

The offer itself still runs through the District app. Axis’s notice says the number of tickets and the discount limit are set by the card’s own offer terms, so check the MY ZONE offer page in District before you book. Axis has published the same Rs 25,000 rule for at least one other card, the NEO, where the movie benefit is a 10% discount up to Rs 100 on BookMyShow.

One timing detail matters more than it looks. Axis counts transactions by the date they settle, which can be up to 5 working days after you swipe. A purchase on 29 October may settle in November and count towards next month’s window, not this one.

What it costs you, in rupees

The rule is a rolling three-month total. Rs 25,000 divided by 3 is Rs 8,333.33, so you need roughly Rs 8,334 a month on average. Here is how that plays out for three ordinary cardholders.

Priya in Pune earns Rs 40,000 a month and puts Rs 12,000 a month on MY ZONE, mostly groceries, fuel, phone and electricity bills, and offline shops. Three months of that is Rs 12,000 × 3 = Rs 36,000. That clears Rs 25,000 with Rs 11,000 to spare. Nothing changes for her, as long as she keeps using this card rather than moving her spending elsewhere. At Rs 15,000 a month the cushion grows to Rs 45,000 − Rs 25,000 = Rs 20,000.

Arjun in Hyderabad keeps MY ZONE for movies and a couple of bills, about Rs 5,000 a month. Three months is Rs 5,000 × 3 = Rs 15,000. He is Rs 10,000 short, so from November he loses the free ticket. Say that ticket was worth Rs 200 to him once a month. That is Rs 200 × 12 = Rs 2,400 a year of value gone. He still pays the Rs 500 annual fee, which comes to Rs 590 once 18% GST is added. For Arjun, the card is now hard to justify.

Meera in Chennai averages close to the line but spends unevenly. Rs 9,000 in August, Rs 4,000 in September (a quiet month) and Rs 10,000 in October. Total: Rs 9,000 + Rs 4,000 + Rs 10,000 = Rs 23,000. She misses November’s offer by Rs 2,000, even though two of her three months looked fine. The rule punishes a single slow month.

The reader this really hits is Arjun: someone who holds MY ZONE as a second card for the cinema perk and does their main spending on another card or by UPI from a bank account.

What you should do

  • Check your August to October spend now. Your November eligibility is already decided by what settled in those three months. Axis says you can see billed transactions in its Net Banking and mobile app.
  • If you are short, do not spend extra just to qualify. Moving Rs 10,000 of extra spending onto a card to save one Rs 200 ticket makes sense only if that spending was going to happen anyway, such as groceries or bills you currently pay another way.
  • Keep one card for the bulk of your spending. If MY ZONE is your main card and you already put Rs 8,334 or more a month on it, keep going. If it is your second card, the movie perk now depends on splitting your spending in a way that may cost you rewards on your main card.
  • Watch the settlement dates near month end. A big purchase in the last few days of a month may land in the next month’s count.
  • Reconsider the card at renewal if you cannot meet the bar. Without the movie offer, you are paying Rs 590 a year (fee plus GST) for 4 EDGE Reward Points per Rs 200.

Axis MY ZONE after the change

Fee line: Rs 500 joining fee and Rs 500 annual fee, plus GST. Axis publishes no spend-based fee waiver on the card’s fees table.

What you earn: 4 EDGE Reward Points for every Rs 200 spent, plus the District buy-one-get-one movie offer, which from 1 November needs Rs 25,000 of spend in the previous three calendar months.

The catch: the card’s best perk now has a spend gate, and the fee has no waiver. Axis also raised the markup on dynamic currency conversion (foreign transactions billed in rupees) from 1.5% to 3.5% on 28 August 2026. On a Rs 10,000 payment that is Rs 350 instead of Rs 150.

Best for: someone who already puts Rs 8,500 or more a month on this one card and goes to the cinema every month. For a light user, it is now a poor card.

FAQ

From when does the Rs 25,000 rule apply?

From 1 November 2026. For a booking in November, Axis looks at spends settled in August, September and October. For December, it looks at September, October and November, and so on.

I got my MY ZONE card recently. Does the rule apply to me?

Not straight away. Axis waives the spend condition for the month your card was issued and the three calendar months after it. A card issued in October 2026 is exempt for October, November, December and January. If your MY ZONE came from an upgrade of another Axis card, it does not count as new.

Does an add-on card’s spend count?

Yes. Axis counts spend at the account level, so purchases on an add-on card add to the same Rs 25,000 total.

Does paying my card bill or annual fee count as spend?

No. Paying your bill is a repayment, not a purchase. Axis’s notice also excludes interest, fees, charges, reversals and refunds. Only billed purchases count.

Is a big EMI purchase a quick way to reach Rs 25,000?

No. If you convert a purchase to EMI, only the instalment billed in each statement counts towards the total, not the full price of the item.
